What Did You Say?

Audio-visual installation, 2017

What Did You Say is an audio-visual installation allowing the audience to travel through the playful miscues of communication that were inspired from my own personal experience with hearing loss. Visible or not, what we communicate may never be as clear as what is in our head. This interactive piece is triggered by the voice of the audience, resulting in a series of videos and sound that travel across the installation. Sound is visualized through the videos that travel across the monitor. These videos consist of a colorful compilation images taken from my sound diary. As you talk into the installation from one end you can hear personally recorded sounds on the other, which represent the background noise that act as interferences to communication.
